Purchase of Trumpf 5kw 4m x 2m 4050 Laser

City has operated a 3kw Trumpf laser for several years and the time has come to replace this with more advanced technology. The new 5kw laser is the only machine in the South West offering the high cutting speeds, enhanced material thickness (up to 25mm) and lower costings of the latest generation of laser profilers.

Purchase of 4m Amada Pressbrake

Although City has for some time operated two Amada 4 metre long pressbrakes, one of them was over ten years old and due for replacement. The latest purchase of an HFT 170 tonne pressbrake means that there are two identical machines side by side which has great advantages in ease of operation and in the handling of jobs requiring complex set ups.

City is known primarily as a sheet metal fabricator with laser capability. But while the laser is in many cases the method of choice for many sheet metal components, the fact remains that there is no quicker way to produce a hole in sheet metal than to punch it. With the acquisition of this state of the art punch press capable of punching up to 800 holes per minute, City now offers the best of both worlds to give its customers the benefits of high productive capacity as well as quality and reasonable costs.

Dull polished stainless steel is one of the most frequently used materials at City Engineering. Although we buy in sheets already polished and coated, handling and manufactures can involve the degradation of surface quality. One pass through our new Costa graining machine restores products to a pristine finish and this valuable new asset can process blanks up to 1100mm wide including situations where forming operations have already taken place.
